When shopping for any piece of home decor, there are questions that you must consider first. Read on for five important questions you should answer before making a lighting purchase.
1. Where is the Fixture Going? Is it for the living room, dining room, bedroom, etc…? This is important because it will determine the specifics of what you shop for. A large living room with a vaulted ceiling can accommodate a much larger chandelier than a bedroom, for instance. Try a general search like wrought iron chandeliers and narrow from there.
2. Is the Size Right? Think in terms of the size of your room. You don’t want the light fixture to overpower or overwhelm the room. Check to see if the chandelier you are looking at comes with an chain extension to adjust the placement of the fixture. If the chandelier will be the primary light fixture in the room, then go for a larger piece, if it’s playing an accent role, then scale down.
3. How Much Lighting Do I Need? Do you want a bright chandelier or a 
softer candle chandelier? For a bedroom, softness of a candle light will be perfect, but for a dining room you might want something adjustable or brighter.
4. Is it High Quality? This is so important. You need to know that you are paying for a quality piece. Don’t be afraid to e-mail the seller to ask more in-depth quality questions.
5. Can I Afford It? Crucial! Make your budget before you jump into a home decor project. Once you have determined your budget, don’t go over it. You will find something in your price range, so don’t be tempted to go over it with the first or second fixture you like.
